Pioneer Village, officially called the Harold Warp Pioneer Village, is located in Minden, Nebraska, along U.S. Highway 6. Spread across 20 acres, this open-air museum includes 28 historic buildingsand showcases over 50,000 itemsthat document the growth of American life from the early 1800s to the mid-20th century. It is considered one of the most comprehensive collections of Americana in the United States and is a major historical attraction in Nebraska.
Pioneer Village was established in 1953by Harold Warp, a Minden-born inventor and successful businessman in the plastics industry. Wanting to preserve the history of American innovation and everyday life, Warp began collecting buildings, tools, vehicles, and personal items that represented how the United States changed over time. He relocated many original structures—including his old schoolhouse, a church, a train depot, and frontier buildings—to form the foundation of the museum.
The museum features a wide variety of collections that are arranged in a way that shows technological progress in a timeline format. Visitors can explore exhibits such as:
- Frontier buildings, including a sod house, Pony Express station, and one-room schoolhouse
- A massive transportation exhibitwith over 350 antique cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, and even airplanes
- Farm equipmentlike tractors, threshers, and steam engines from different time periods
- Household items, toys, typewriters, musical instruments, and early appliances arranged in historical order
- Art and decorative itemssuch as Currier & Ives prints, John Rogers sculptures, and antique furniture
The goal of each display is to highlight how Americans lived, worked, and traveled during different periods of U.S. history.

The experience is self-guided, allowing visitors to walk at their own pace through the themed buildings and outdoor displays.
