Alpacas of the Heartland is located in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, just 20 to 30 minutes north of Omaha. The farm sits on 13 acres of peaceful countryside, surrounded by open grasslands and wooded areas. It is owned and managed by a couple, Sheri and Mike Jacoby, who started the farm out of love for alpacas. This farm specializes in raising Huacaya alpacas, which are known for their soft, fluffy fleece. The owners also collect the fleece to make and sell soft fiber products like yarn and handmade items.
The farm is more than just an alpaca breeding place. It offers fun and relaxing experiences for visitors, including farm tours, school field trips, private picnics, weddings, and community events. One of the most popular activities is "Whine with the Alpacas", where guests can bring wine, sit in the pasture, and enjoy time with the alpacas in a calm outdoor setting.
Public visits are available by appointment only. The farm usually welcomes guests during the fall season (September to November), but special visits can be arranged in other months as well. Visitors can contact Sheri directly by text or phone to book a visit. Events and dates are also shared on the farm’s official Facebook page.
When visiting, guests can take guided tours, learn about alpaca care, and interact with the animals. The calm environment, fresh air, and beautiful views make it a peaceful escape from the city.
